Bobby Ray Brown, Sr.: Loris

    Bobby Ray Brown, Sr. of Loris passed away peacefully on July 10, at McLeod Loris hospital. He was 73.
    He was born Feb. 19, 1942 in Horry County, a son of the late James Bruce Brown and the late Mattie Phillips Brown. He was a longtime farmer in the Green Sea community and a member of the Pleasant Meadow Baptist Church.
    He was predeceased by a son-in-law, Kent Strickland, and siblings Bill Brown, James Brown, Jimmy “Tinny” Brown, Charlie Brown and Ruth Blanton.
    Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Joyce Ann Hewitt Brown of the home; children Bobby Sue Strickland, Rebecca Brown Hammond and her husband Roger Dale, and Bobby Ray Brown, Jr. and his wife Regina all of Nichols; grandchildren, Crystal (Shaun), Dana (Faith), Cullan (Ashley), Louis (Claire), Calleen (Wesley), Blake (Seth), Ryder and Heather (Chris); great-grandchildren Kameron, Layton, Landon, Ayden, Sullivan and Sadie; and siblings David Brown and his wife Joyce of Thomasville, Bonnie Albee and her husband Paul of Albemarle, and Glenda Housand and her husband Reece of Loris.
    Funeral services were planned for 11 a.m. Monday, July 13, in the chapel of Twin City Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, with Pastor Mark George officiating. Visitation was to follow. Private entombment followed.
