Joyce Quick: Loris

    Joyce Quick of Loris passed away Sunday, Aug. 9. She was 87.
    Mrs. Quick was born in Robeson County, a daughter of the late Rembert and Julia Hardin Townsend.  She was a member of Springfield Missionary Baptist Church and was a former cosmetologist and owner of Joyce’s Beauty Shop in Loris.  
    Mrs. Quick was predeceased by her husband, Jimmy Howard Quick.
    Survivors include her three children, Ellen Quick Watts and her husband Houston of Tabor City, Cathy Prince and her husband Wilton of Loris, and Larry Quick and his wife Debbie of Florence; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one brother, Bill Townsend and his wife Betty of St. Pauls.
    The family planned to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Loris Chapel.
    Funeral services were planned for 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12  at Springfield Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Slomka officiating, burial following at 4 p.m. in Florence Memorial Gardens, Florence, with Rev. Mark Slomka and Rev. Jim Crooks officiating.
    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Springfield Missionary Baptist Church, 246 Springfield Church Road, Loris, SC 29569.
