Nanette Lewis Milligan Marlowe: Loris

     Nanette Lewis Milligan Marlowe of Loris, passed away Sunday, Aug. 2,  at McLeod Loris hospital following an illness. She was 94.
    Born on April 19, 1921 in Loris, she was a daughter of Mr. Olin Lewis and Mrs. Viola Turner Lewis. Mrs. Marlowe was the first female Independent Insurance Agent in the state of South Carolina and worked as bookkeeper for fifty years with Hardwick Insurance Agency. She was a member of the Chicora Chapter of Colonial Dames XVII Century and the Peter Horry Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of The American Revolution, as well as a longtime and active member of the Loris First United Methodist Church, where she served as treasurer for over thirty years.
     Survivors include her daughter, Alice M. Marlowe and husband, John of Loris; two sons, Lewis Milligan and wife, Arlene of Columbia, and Thelbert J. “Mickey” Milligan and wife, Linda of Lilburn, Georgia; eight grandchildren, Michaele Milligan Cook and husband, Carter, Lisa Milligan, Steven Milligan and wife, Carrie, Martha Milligan Hart and husband, Donald, Zachary Milligan, Austin Milligan, Jennifer Marlowe Estes and husband Willie and Gregory Marlowe and wife, Melena; ten great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and one sister, Sarah Johnson of Fairfax, Virginia.
     In addition to her parents, Mrs. Marlowe was predeceased by her first husband, Thelbert J. Milligan; her second husband, Arthur M. Marlowe; seven brothers, Carl, Austin, Herbert, Marvin, Edwin, Blake and Jack Lewis and three sisters, Leila Nichols, Lucille Craven and Mary Kate Lewis.
     Memorial services were held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4 at Loris First United Methodist Church with Pastor Grady Corder and Reverend Carl Harris officiating.
