Robert Kay Hughes: Tabor City

    Robert Kay Hughes of Tabor City went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Aug. 6 at McLeod Regional Medical Center Hospice House in Florence. He was 93.
    He was the husband of the late Bessie Bernice Ward Hughes and the son of the late Hugh and Kathleen Veronica Hughes.  
    He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Krystal King Pineda-Cardenas and a sister; Connie Alexander.
    He was a veteran serving in the US Coast Guard.
    He leaves to cherish his memory, five daughters, Diana G. Long of Tabor City, Daphne G. Worley of Cerro Gordo, Donna G. Yanes of Tabor City, Deanna G. Robertson of Myrtle Beach, SC and Delores “Lorrie” Wiggins of Norwood; half-sister, Mollie Hughes of Berkley, California; 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
    Funeral services were held 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8 at Worthington Funeral Home presided by Elder Edgar Pete Duncan and Elder Tommy Small. Interment followed in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Tabor City with military honors conducted by the US Coast Guard.
