Deer collides with sheriff’s vehicle
By DEUCE NIVEN
There were no serious injuries when a Columbus County Sheriff’s Office vehicle collided with a deer near Nakina Sunday night, Maj. Bobby Worley said Monday.
Deputy Nick High was at the wheel of the 2015 Ford Explorer, carrying a trainee and a prisoner on the way to the Columbus County Detention Center, Worley said.
All three were evaluated at Columbus Regional Healthcare, and released with no serious injuries, following the 8 p.m. collision on NC 905 near Poley Bridge Church Road, Worley said.
Fulton Best of Chadbourn, a recently hired deputy, was riding with High, of North Whiteville, as part of his training, Worley said.
