Sam Nolan Huggins: Surfside Beach
1935 – 2015
Sam Nolan Huggins of Surfside Beach died Saturday, Oct. 3 at Tidelands Community Hospice House. He was 80.
He was born Sept. 18, 1935 in Horry County, the son of the late Rufus James and Fronnie Stroud Huggins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers and five sisters.
Mr. Huggins is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Shirley Grainger Huggins, two sons, Duane Huggins of Goose Creek and Mike Fowler of Tabor City; two daughters, Debbie Jordon of Charlotte, and Windy Sitton of Florence.
Sam was also blessed with eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. He is survived by brothers Furman and Billy; sister, Virginia Lee.
A memorial service to celebrate his life was planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, at Surfside Presbyterian Church, with a gathering to follow in the church family center.
