LD Porter: Tabor City

1933-2015

    LD Porter of Tabor City passed away Thursday, Oct. 15 at Loris Hospital. He was 81.
    LD was born Dec. 8, 1933 in Tabor City to the late William Purvel Porter and Eva Mae Stephens Porter.  
    He was a 1953 graduate of Tabor City High School and served in the United States Army 1954-1956. He was a member of Sandy Plain Baptist Church.
    Mr. Porter was preceded in death by his wife, Olga Juanita Fowler Porter.
    He is survived by two daughters, Wanda Porter Bardill (Chuck) of Sanford, Sandra Porter McCormick (Larry) of Tabor City; two brothers, William Carlyle Porter of Holden Beach, Kenneth Dwight Porter (Melba) of Loris; three sisters: Virginia Mae Gause (David) of Shallotte, Barbara Ann Morgan (Lloyd) of Chadbourn, Dolores Kay Cox (Horace) of Whiteville; four grandchildren: Jason Turner, Faith Bardill, Conner McCormick, Deeanna McCormick; one great grandchild: Trae Turner; extended family: Corbin Clemons, Nathan Clemons, Nicholas Clemons, and Roy Nealey.
    Visitation was planned from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17 at Inman Ward Funeral Home.
    Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18 at Sandy Plain Baptist Church with burial following in Porter Cemetery.
