Gladys Obera Stanley Mills: Clarendon

1920 – 2015

    Gladys Obera Stanley Mills of Clarendon died Tuesday, Nov. 3 in the Liberty Commons Nursing Center, Whiteville. She was 95.
    Born Jan. 3, 1920 in Columbus County, she was the daughter of the late Henry Emerson Stanley and Vira Tula Hinson Stanley.  
    She is survived by one brother, Selmon Stanley of Clarendon; two sisters, Retha June Nichols and Loraine Bullock, both of Chadbourn: and several nieces and nephews.  
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm Lee Mills; four brothers, Hubert Stanley, Paul Stanley, Homer Stanley, Cecil Stanley; three sisters, Estelle Jayroe, Lucille Cox, and Dot Elkin.
    Funeral services were planned for 3 p.m.Thursday, Nov. 5 in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel, Tabor City, with burial following in the Stanley Cemetery, Mollie Road, Clarendon. Visitation was planned for the hour prior to the service in the chapel.
