Betty Garrett Stevens: Loris

1951 – 2015
 
     Betty Garrett Stevens of Loris passed away Friday, Nov. 20 at her home following an illness. She was 64.
     Born on Jan. 27, 1951 in Wilmington, she was the daughter of the late Alton Garrett and the late Vivian Nealy Garrett.
    Mrs. Stevens had an associate’s degree in Criminal Justice as well as her cosmetology license and a flight attendants certificate. She was of the Baptist faith and loved her daily Bible Study, spending most of her days watching and listening to the word of God. Mrs. Stevens was a loving homemaker but will be most remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.
     Survivors include her husband, Larry Stevens of the home; two sons, Mark Gore and wife, Lori of Las Vegas, Nevada and Ken Mac Gore and wife, Sarah of Little River; two daughters, Alexis Hudson and Amy Lopez and husband, Robert all of Myrtle Beach; 13  grandchildren, Paige Gore, Taylor Gore, Kaden Gore, Madison Gore, Valorie Gore, Chase Gore, MaKenna Gore, Kara Alexis Gore, Zach Hudson, Chase Hudson, Jenae Lopez, Alyssa Lopez and Ciana Lopez; three brothers, Kenny Garrett and wife, Debbie, Jerry Garrett and Doug Garrett and wife, Sandra all of Wilmington; sister, Faye Cable and husband Don, of Wilmington; mother-in-law, Florene A. Stevens of Loris, and three sister-in-law’s, Myra Gore of Madison, Deborah Jackson of Dunn, and Wanda Stevens of Loris; one brother-in-law, Ernest Stevens of Loris, and 19 loving nieces and nephews.
     In addition to her parents, Mrs. Stevens was predeceased by two sisters, Sue Ann Watkins and Brenda Garrett and one brother-in-law, Charles Stevens
     Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22 at Hardwick Memorial Chapel with Reverend Jon Johnson officiating. Committal services followed at Cane Branch Cemetery.
    The family has requested that memorials be made to Embrace Hospice, 1318 3rd Avenue, Conway, SC 29526.
