Nathan Bedford Williamson: Tabor City

1923 – 2015

    Nathan Bedford Williamson of Tabor City passed away Saturday, Nov, 21 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice in Southport following an illness. He was 92.
    Mr. Williamson was born on Oct. 9, 1923 in Tabor City, son of the late Marion Williamson and the late Cora Suggs Williamson. Mr. Williamson retired as a tobacco farmer and was a longtime member of Old Zion Wesleyan Church.
     Survivors include his two brothers, Lloyd Williamson and wife, Marion of Hampton, Virginia and Douglas Williamson and wife, Evon of Tabor City; two sisters, Elma Housand of Tabor City, and Alice Williams and husband, Mel of Florida, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
     In addition to his parents, Mr. Williamson was predeceased by his loving wife, Estalene Agnes Thompkins Williamson; two brothers, Ottis and Lonnie Williamson and two sisters, Jesma Housand and Katherine Long.
     Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24 at Hardwick Memorial Chapel with Reverend Dean Cartrette officiating. Committal services will be private.
