George Kendall “G.K.” Andrews: Winston Salem
1938 – 2016
George Kendall “G.K.” Andrews of Winston Salem went home to be with his Lord while at the Hospice Home at High Point. He was 78.
G.K. was born in Columbus County, to the late George Kendall and Ethel Naomi Todd Andrews.
He graduated from Wesleyan Methodist Theological College in Central South Carolina. He was retired from the Wesleyan Church after 56 years of devoted service as a pastor. After retiring He worked with Sears Operation Center for 16 years.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Carroll Andrews of the home; one daughter, Marsha Flinchum and husband Phil of High Point; one son, Dennis Andrews and wife Dianna of Jacksonville Florida; five sisters, Hazel A. Piggot, Estalene A. York, Estele A. Smith, Bonnie A Miller, and Wanda A. Thompson, all of Columbus County; four grandchildren, Kendra Mikols and husband Eric of Houghton, New York, Christian Flinchum of Anderson, Corbin Andrews, of Jacksonville Florida, and Morgan Flinchum of High Point.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19 at Cumby Family Funeral Service, High Point Chapel.
A funeral service celebrating his life is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 20 at Christ Wesleyan Church with Chaplain Dennis Andrews, Rev. Jerry Lumston, Rev James Capp, Rev Randy Garner, and Dr. Rusty Sieck officiating. Interment is planned at Floral Gardens Memorial Park, High Point.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Nicholson-Mitchell Christian Ministry Center, P.O. Box 1020, Central SC 29630.
