Shelby Jean Reaves: Loris

1939 – 2016
Shelby Jean Reaves of Loris passed away Tuesday, Feb. 23. She was 76.
Mrs. Reaves was born in Loris, a daughter of the late Austin and Alberta Brinson. She was a devoted member of Macedonia Baptist Church.
Mrs. Reaves was a loving and caring nurse for over 40 years with Loris Community Hospital and with the practice of Dr. Bernabe Palomares. She loved flowers and was a talented seamstress specializing in wedding gowns and pageant attire. Mrs. Reaves enjoyed spending time with her granddaughters and was involved in their many activities. She was always a caregiver to any family or friend in need.
Mrs. Reaves was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Willis Reaves and her brother, Herman Brinson.
Survivors include her daughter, Jeanie Reaves Arrington and her husband Glenn of Loris; three grandchildren, Haley Elizabeth Arrington Corbin and her husband Kaleb of Beaufort, Hannah Lea Arrington and her friend Tyler Dillon of Loris, and Leigh McElveen and her husband Kyle of Florence; two great-grandchildren, Britton McElveen and Konner McElveen both of Florence; two brothers, Woody Brinson and his wife Becky of Florence and Hoyt Brinson and his wife Paulette of Loris; one sister, Lenell Porter and her husband Joseph of Monroe, NC; one sister-in-law, Mary Brinson of Loris; several nieces and nephews; and many loving friends.
Visitation was planned from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Loris Chapel.
Funeral services were planned for 3:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26 at Macedonia Baptist Church with Rev. Wendell Ray, Rev. Jimmy Caines, and Rev. Allen Singletary officiating, burial following in the Reaves Family Cemetery.
