Leona Cox Floyd: Green Sea

Leona Cox Floyd of Green Sea died Monday, Feb. 29 in her home. She was 85.
Born April 20, 1930 in Columbus County, she was the widow of Hoyt E. Floyd and the daughter of the late Wayman Cox and Nora Long Cox.
She is survived by one son, Ronald H. Floyd (JoAnn) of Green Sea; one daughter, Gayle Strickland of Green Sea; four sisters, Lillian “Dot” King of Loris, Sue Callahan of High Point, Barbara Miller of Roanoke, Virginia, Joan Schuetz of Panama; four grandchildren, Rodney Floyd (Carisa) of Nichols, Jonathan Floyd (Candace) of Marion, Jamie Strickland (Karla) of Loris, Heather Strickland of Loris; and eight great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by one brother, J C Cox; and five sisters, Macel Hughes, Edna Mae Livingston, Muriel Graham, Marie Wilcox, and Star Finnessey.
Funeral services were planned for 11 a.m. Thursday, March 3 in Green Sea Baptist Church, with burial following in Twin City Memorial Gardens, Loris. Visitation was planned for the hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall.
