Steven Raymond Planty: Loris

1951 – 2016
Steven Raymond Planty of Loris, age 65, passed away Saturday, Feb. 27 at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence following an illness. He was 65.
Mr. Planty was born on Feb. 18, 1951 in Gouverneur, New York, the son of the late Raymond Paul Planty and the late Carmaine Claire Larocque Planty.
Mr. Planty served his country with courage, honor and distinction in the United States Army. He was a Vietnam Veteran and recipient of the Bronze Star as well as many other meritorious awards during his twenty-three years in the military. After the Army, Mr. Planty worked with the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement and was a member of Loris First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Mae Planty; son, Steven Eugene Planty and wife, TheOdocia and daughter; Tamera Corrine Planty all of Loris; four grandchildren, Kayla Nicole Planty, Courtney Eilene Planty, Joshua Tyler Planty and Claire Jane Cooper; one great-granddaughter, Isabella Katherine Sandoval-Planty; stepmother, Joyce Planty of New York; two brothers, Michael Planty and wife, Deborah of Alaska and James Planty and wife, Deborah of Ohio as well as many loving stepfamily, nieces and nephews.
The family planned to receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 4 at Hardwick Funeral Home, Loris.
Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 5 at Hardwick Memorial Chapel with Reverend Hunter Johnson officiating. Committal services, with military honors, are to be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Loris First Baptist Church Youth Program, 3117 Main St, Loris, SC 29569 or to the veterans group of your choice.
