Penny Wanina McCumbee: Tabor City
1956 – 2016
Penny Wanina McCumbee of Tabor City died Saturday, March 5, in her home. She was 59.
Born in Columbus County, she was the daughter of Essie Watts Nealey of Tabor City, and the late Robert Nealey.
She was a Special Education teacher at Tabor City Elementary School for 17 years.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Herbert Dixon “Don” McCumbee Jr. of Tabor City; two sons, Samuel Adam McCumbee and Aaron Dixon McCumbee, both of Tabor City; a brother, Terry Nealey of Tabor City; two sisters, Sherry Strickland of Tabor City and Jessica Nealey Thomas of Green Sea; two grandchildren, Kya Chere McCumbee and Kiara Sophia McCumbee.
In addition to her father she was preceded in death by two brothers, Greg Nealey and Gary Nealey.
Funeral services were planned for 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel in Tabor City. Visitation was planned for the hour prior to the service, in the chapel.
A graveside service was planned for 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, in Myrtle Green Cemetery, Tabor City.
