Sarah Lewis Wright: Tabor City

1927 – 2016
Sarah Lewis Wright of Tabor City passed away on Wednesday, March 9. She was 89.
She grew up in High Point, graduating High Point High School in 1944. She then attended Meredith College where she met and married her husband, Ed Wright, a NC State student at the time, from Tabor City.
While raising four children, Mrs. Sarah returned to school and received her BS degree in Education from Campbell University in 1974. She spent the next 21 years teaching the Trainable Mentally Handicapped Class in the Tabor City Schools.
Mrs. Wright was dedicated to her students and took great satisfaction watching them reach their full potential.
Mrs. Sarah was preceded in death by her husband Edwin Edsel Wright Sr.; her daughter, Ann Elizabeth Wright; her son, Edwin Edsel Wright Jr.; her brother, Mack Martin Lewis; her father, Samuel McMaster Lewis; and her mother, Ada Martin Lewis.
Left to cherish her memory are three children, Jane Wright Harrelson of Tabor City, Catherine Wright Jones and husband Bobby of Tabor City, James Lewis Wright of Lenoir; four grandchildren, Abbey Jones Townsend and husband Nick from Morrisville, Colby Wright Hall and husband Jacob from Fredericksburg, Virginia, Samuel Canon Wright and wife Alexis from Austin, Texas, and John Gladstone Jones IV from Raleigh; two great grandchildren, Hadley Catherine Townsend, daughter of Nick and Abbey, and Isabelle Grace Hall, daughter of Jacob and Colby.
Mrs. Sarah treasured her extended family near and far, as well as her many friends.
A Celebration of Life service was planned for 3 p.m. Sunday, March 13, at Tabor City Baptist Church, 200 Live Oak Street in Tabor City, with interment following in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Tabor City.
Visitation was planned for the hour preceding the service, in the church.
