A criminal investigation has been launched in connection with the discovery of a body in the Tabor City area Saturday afternoon, but investigators are not identifying the body or discussing its connection, if any, to the missing persons case, Columbus County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Michelle Tatum said.
A search effort had ben underway for Felicia Moore Porter, 45, who was last seen near Fowler’s Supermarkt on Swampfox Hwy East, east of Tabor City.
An autopsy will be conducted Monday at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Raleigh, Tatum said. No further details are expected to be released before Monday, she said.
