1955 – 2016

    Royce “Brian” Harrelson of Tabor City passed away peacefully at McLeod Loris hospital on Monday, March 14. He was 60.
    He was surrounded by his brothers, sister, and oldest niece.
     Brian was the son of Elsie Fowler Harrelson and the late Royce Harrelson of Tabor City.
    He is survived by his sister, Phyllis Bennett Wilson of Loris; brother, Alan Harrelson (and wife Brenda) of Tabor City; brother, Dewey Bennett (and wife Mary) of Durham; nieces Brittany Soles Lynn of Whiteville and Jessica Wilson of Tabor City; nephew, Jay Wilson (and wife Suzanne) of Wilmington; nephews, Chris Bennett and Scott Bennett of Durham, and Jeremy Harrelson of Tabor City; and great-niece Darby Ann Wilson of Wilmington.
    He was preceded in death by his father, Royce Harrelson of Tabor City; and his nephew, Whitney Bennett Wilson of Loris.
    Brian worked as a machinist for Penn Ventilator in Tabor City for 27 years. He was an accomplished fisherman, loved the outdoors, and enjoyed working out.
    Brian was a faithful friend and a devoted member of the Tabor City Baptist Church. He was a loving companion and caregiver to his mother for many years. Brian enjoyed his time with family and friends.
    In lieu of flowers, his family requests that donations be made in his honor to Tabor City Baptist Church, 200 Live Oak Street, Tabor City, NC 28463; Food Bank of Central and Eastern N.C., 1314 Marstellar Street, Wilmington, NC; National Parkinson Foundation, 200 SE 1st Street, Suite 800, Miami, FL, 33131; or N.C. Wildlife Federation, 1024 Washington Street, Raleigh, NC, 27605.
    Special thanks are extended to all his caring doctors and his wonderful nurses at McLeod Loris hospital (especially Dr. Barrett and Dr. Po).
    A memorial service was planned for 4 p.m. Friday, March 18 in Tabor City Baptist Church.
