Frank Sarvis, Sr.: Loris

1932 – 2016

    Frank Sarvis, Sr. of the Bethany section, near Loris in Horry County, passed away on Friday, March 18 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach following an illness. He was 83.
    Mr. Sarvis was born April 20, 1932, a son of the late D. J. Scarborough and Gussie Bell Lewis Sarvis. 
    He was a long-time member of the Masons and Shriners as well as a lifetime farmer, mechanic and inventor.  He loved his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and the land very much.
    He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Nancy D. (Todd) Sarvis; two daughters, Deborah Pierce (Craig) of Chapin, and Karen Bates (Andy) of Blythewood; one son, Frank Sarvis Jr. (Mary Jane) of Loris; seven grandchildren, J. Shawn Goff (Kelly) of Blythewood, Travis B. Goff (Tanya) of Leesville, Cameron L. Pierce (Lisa) of Columbia, Mary Frances, Sarah E., Virginia D. and Wilson S. Sarvis all of Loris; five loving great- grandchildren; three sisters, Esta Mae Johnson of Charleston, Mary Evelyn Elkins of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Rosa Bell “Bunny” Santilli of South Bend, Indiana.
    Family planned to receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 20 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Loris Chapel.
    Funeral services were planned for 11 a.m. Monday, March 21 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Loris Chapel with Rev. Mark George officiating. Entombment, with military honors, were to follow at the Twin City Mausoleum, 1830 Highway 701 North, Loris.
    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pleasant Meadow Baptist Church, 937 Green Sea Road South, Loris, SC 29569, or to Heartland Hospice, 1500 Main Street, Conway, SC 29526.
