Joseph Ralph Long: Tabor City
1928 – 2016
Joseph Ralph Long of Tabor City died Saturday, March 19, in McLeod Loris hospital. He was 87.
Born in Columbus County, he was the son of the late John Davis Long and Lizzie Delton Long. He was the widower of Roma Long. He was a veteran of the U.S. army.
He is survived by two daughters, Joanne Long Sing of Tabor City and Dawn Long-Miller of Shallotte; two sons, Joseph “Joey” Ralph Long II of Tabor City and John Dallis Long of Tabor City; one brother, Jimmy Dale Long of Tabor City; one sister, Dorothy Long Meacher of Lumberton; 12 grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by two daughters, Rowena Long Benton and Janie Long; one sister, Lizzie Mae Smith; two brothers, Tillman Dallis Long and John Gilbert Long.
Visitation was planned from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 20, in Inman Ward Funeral Home, Tabor City.
Funeral services were planned for 3 p.m. Monday, March 21, in Dulah Baptist Church, Tabor City, with burial following in Harley Ford Cemetery, Tabor City.
