Robert “Bob” Meares: Evergreen

1945 – 2016
Robert “Bob” Meares of Evergreen died Wednesday, April 20 in New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Wilmington. He was 70.
Born Sept. 22, 1945 in Columbus County, he was the son of the late Marion Taft Meares and Allie Ward Meares and the widower of Geraldine Fowler Meares.
He is survived by two daughters, Lynn McPherson (Gary Dean) of Evergreen, Jennifer Floyd (Page) of Fair Bluff; one brother, Jerry Meares of Whiteville; five sisters, Irene Hinson of High Point, Christine Lois Rasberry of Whiteville, Eugondia Simmons of Tabor City, Katherine Soles of Chadbourn, Nancy Fowler of Whiteville; and six grandchildren, Chandler Floyd, Leah Floyd, Wyatt McPherson, Alexis McPherson, Hailey McPherson, and Brittney McPherson.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by an infant daughter; one brother, Earl Meares; and one sister, Doris Fowler.
Mr. Meares was a retired Veteran of the United States Navy.
Visitation was planned from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, April 23 in Inman Ward Funeral Home of Tabor City.
Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m. Sunday, April 24 in Tabor City Baptist Church, with burial following in Myrtle Green Cemetery, Tabor City.
