Rachel Holmes Coats: Loris

1952 – 2016
Rachel Holmes Coats of Loris passed away Friday, June 3 at her home following an illness. She was 64.
Born on March 1, 1952 in Loris, she was the daughter of the late Frankie Hampton “Hamp” Holmes and the late Helen Madora Watson Holmes.
Mrs. Coat’s passion was nursing and she was blessed to have worked at several hospitals and the Department of Health until her retirement. She was also a longtime active member of Macedonia Baptist Church but will be most remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
Survivors include her husband Phillip B. “Phil” Coats, Jr.; two daughters, Lori Mishoe and husband, Bobby and Kimberly Coats and husband Steven Gitchell; her brother, Rodney Holmes and wife, Marilyn and four grandchildren, Dawson Mishoe, Samantha Mishoe, Chloey Gitchell and Callie Gitchell all of Loris.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Coats was predeceased by her infant son.
Funeral services were planned for 4 p.m. Monday, June 6 at Macedonia Baptist Church with Pastor Ragsdale Allsbrook officiating, committal services following at Pleasant Meadow Cemetery.
