James David Anderson Sr.: Loris

1928 – 2016
James David “Jim” Anderson, Sr., of Loris passed away Sunday, June 12 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center following an illness. He was 87.
Born on Oct. 8, 1928 in Loris, he was the son of the late Herbert H. Anderson and the late Lutie Booth Anderson.
Mr. Anderson was a longtime member of Gurley Baptist Church, Woodmen of the World member and he retired as a Captain with SLED after forty years of honorable service.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Bell Anderson of the home; son, David Anderson, Jr. of Loris; daughter, Cheryl Anderson Harrell of Columbia; three grandchildren, Jimmy Anderson and wife, Cassandra of Loris, Michelle Coletta and husband, Vince of Myrtle Beach, and Gregory “Andy” Harrell of Columbia; and two great-grandchildren, Jameson Anderson and Josie Anderson both of Loris.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Anderson was predeceased by three brothers, Coleman Anderson, Herbert Legrand Anderson and Bruce Anderson and his two sisters, Pearl Gore and Grace Glovanovitch.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m.Wednesday, June 15 at Hardwick Memorial Chapel with Paul Gasque officiating. Committal services followed in Anderson Cemetery.
