Murder in Green Acres poolroom

    A single gunshot to the head apparently killed a local man inside a poolroom in the Green Acres subdivision, Columbus County Assistant Coroner William Hannah said Tuesday.
    Columbus County Sheriff’s deputies responding to a report of a person shot at 661 Pine Circle Drive discovered the body about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, said Michelle Tatum, the department’s Public Information Officer.
    Jerome Parrott, 39, of the 500 block of Lester Watts Road, Tabor City, was found inside a large room that contained two pool tables, with space for more, Hannah said.
    While it appeared Parrott was shot once in the head, an autopsy to be conducted Thursday at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Raleigh will determine the cause of death, both Hannah and Tatum said.
    Tatum released no further information on the homicide investigation.
