James Thomas “Jimmy” Dorsey: Loris

1945 – 2016

    James Thomas “Jimmy” Dorsey of Loris passed away Saturday, June 25 at his residence following an illness. He was 70.
    Mr. Dorsey was born Nov. 16, 1945 in Conway a son of the late Thomas E. “Bud” Dorsey and the late Christine Martin Dorsey.  He was a member of the Gurley Baptist Church and was a farmer.
     Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Rhonda H. Dorsey of Loris; three children, Tina D. Matthews of Longs, Janie D. Wood of Conway, and Tommy Dorsey of Loris; one brother, Barry Dorsey of Conway; one sister, Martha Hucks of North Myrtle Beach; four grandchildren.
     The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 27 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Loris Chapel.
     Funeral services were planned for 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 28 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Loris Chapel, with Rev. Glenn Lane and Rev. John Holmes officiating, burial following in Anderson Cemetery in the Gurley section.
