Paul was predeceased by his loving wife of 63 years, Ruth Lewis Gore and a special niece, Norris Hunt.
Paul was blessed with three children, Mildred Bernice “Bunny” Boswell (John Boswell), Paul Usrey Gore, Jr. (Brenda Cox Gore), and Frances Diane Gore Bell (Richard Dick Bell); six grandchildren Darren Paul Gore (Kimberly Gore), Donald O’Brian Gore (Pam Gore), Robin Boswell Timmerman (Mark Timmerman), John Boswell (Carol Boswell), Andy Courtney (Mary Ann Courtney) and, Suzanne Courtney Palmer (Matt Palmer); 15 great grandchildren; and two special nieces, Myra Gore and Kathy Simmons.
Paul attended Tabor City High School and was a member of Old Zion Wesleyan Church of Guideway and St. Paul United Methodist Church of Tabor City. His baritone voice filled the Methodist choir for many years.
Farming always brought Paul peace. He believed it was a partnership with God. Paul planted the seeds, He made them grow.
At the young age of 18, Paul learned how to farm from his father working on the family farm, Gore Farms. Paul also ran Gore Nursery for 20 years. The plants and flowers first sired by his hand at the nursery are now thriving in the gardens of his nieces Myra Gore and Kathy Gore Simmons.
Paul was a member of Farm Bureau and received a plaque recognizing his 36 years of service.
Known for his sense of humor, Paul always greeted you with a smile and a story. Paul never met a stranger and was known and loved by all the community and will be missed; but at heart he was a simple farmer, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
