Carl Bellamy Hardee: Loris

1930 – 2016
Carl Bellamy Hardee of Loris passed away on Saturday, July 16 at McLeod Loris hospital. He was 85.
Born on Dec. 22, 1930 in Loris, a son of the late Mr. John Percy Hardee and the late Mrs. Letha Isabelle Bellamy Hardee. Mr. Hardee served his country with courage, honor, and distinction in the United States Army during the Korean War. Much of his deployment was spent as a machine gunner on the front lines and he earned a Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and Distinguished Service Medal. After the military, Mr. Hardee worked as a farmer and was a longtime member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Glennie Bell Cartrette Hardee of the home; six sons, Mitchell Hardee of Eloree, Audie John Hardee and wife, Sharon of Conway, Randy C. Hardee, Tony C. Hardee and wife, Mickey, Kem R. Hardee and Ron Hardee and wife, Patricia all of Loris; two brothers, Charles Hardee and wife, Kathy and Larry Hardee all of Conway; four sisters, Shirley Porter of Loris, Mildred Ridgeway and husband, Charlie of Missouri, Doris Jacobs and husband, Boyd of Columbia, and Mary Alice Lee of Charleston, and many loving grand and great-grandchildren.
Including his parents, Mr. Hardee was predeceased by his daughter, Patti Sue Hardee; two brothers, James Oscar Hardee and Leamon Percy Hardee and two sisters, Zelma Jacobs and Betty Orr.
Funeral services were held 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 20 at Hardwick Memorial Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Floyd officiating. Committal services, with military honors, followed at Twin City Memorial Gardens.
