Edna Bernice Harrelson Mixon: Loris

1920 – 2016

    Edna Bernice “Aunt Bea” Harrelson Mixon of Loris passed away Tuesday, July 19 at McLeod Loris hospital. She was 95.
    Mrs. Mixon was born on Sept.  26, 1920 in Loris, a daughter of the late Theodore Carson Harrelson and the late Nellie Louise Blackburn Harrelson.
    Mrs. Mixon operated a daycare business for many years and was a longtime member of Lawndale Baptist Church. “Aunt Bea” was a loving homemaker and mother and a dear friend to all who were blessed to have known her.
     Survivors include three daughters, Rhonda Norris and husband, Carroll of Loris, Cynthia Dianne Berry and husband, Henry of Nakina, and Linda Spivey Cox of Loris; one son, Bryan Milligan and wife, Barbara of Wilmington; six grandchildren, Danny and Wayne Milligan, Emily Cox, Keith Norris and wife, Teresa, Debbie Baker and husband, Chris and Kimberly Clark and many loving great and great-great-grandchildren.
     Mrs. Mixon was predeceased by her husband, William “Tex” Ira Mixon; two grandchildren, Ricky Milligan and Hamilton Clark; three brothers, Liston Harrelson, Lynwood Harrelson and T.C. Harrelson; and two sisters, Ellen Lenora Harrelson and Lila Pearl Harrelson.
     Funeral services were planned for 11 a.m. Friday, July 22 at Lawndale Baptist Church with Pastor Lloyd Phipps and Rev. Jackie Strickland officiating, committal services following at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
