Charles William Duncan Sr.: Tabor City

Charles William Duncan Sr. of Tabor City died Thursday, Aug. 4, in McLeod Loris hospital. He was 94.
He was the widower of Mary Ellen Stanley Duncan.
Born Sept. 7, 1921 in Columbus County, he was the son of the late Alton Edwin and Retha Long Duncan.
He is survived by four brothers, Homer Duncan of Wilmington, Tom Duncan of Nakina, Pete Duncan of Tabor City, and Jimmy Duncan of Kearns, Utah; three grandchildren,William Duncan of Niantic, Connecticut, Autumn Johnson of Statesville, and Cami Walker of Kernersville; six great grandchildren; a daughter in law, Cindy Duncan of Winston Salem; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one son, William “Bill” Duncan; and three sisters, Vergie Smith, Virginia Moore, Magdalene Jenkins.
Mr. Duncan was a Veteran of the United States Army.
Visitation was planned from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, in Inman Ward Funeral Home, Tabor City.
A graveside service was planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, in Duncan Cemetery, Tabor City.
