Charles William Drake: Tabor City

1930 – 2016

    Charles William Drake of Tabor City died Monday, Aug. 15, in the Medical University of South Carolina at Charleston. He was 85.
    Born Dec. 11, 1930 in Ithaca, New York, he was the son of the late Max Drake and Madeline Genter Drake.
    He is survived by his wife, Joyce Swaney Drake of Tabor City; two sons, Matthew C. Drake of Jacksonville and Craig W. Drake of Newport; a daughter, Jennifer Drake Sullivan of Jacksonville; two brothers, Richard Drake of Palm Bay, Florida and Larry Drake of Ithaca, New York; and two grandchildren. He was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corp.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.
    A memorial service was planned for 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, in Tabor City Baptist Church. Visitation was planned for the hour prior to the service in the church.
