Letha McDowell Smith Saber: Tabor City

1912 – 2016

    Letha McDowell Smith Saber of Tabor City died Monday, Aug. 29 in her home. She was 103.
    Born Dec. 30, 1912 in Dillon County, she was the daughter of the late Monroe McDowell and Ella Belle Alford McDowell.
    She is survived by two sons, Cecil Smith of Clarendon, Carlisle H. Smith of Hampton, Virginia; one brother, John Monroe McDowell of Clarendon; two sisters, Elsie McCauley of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Bernice Hall of Clarendon; 13 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and 17 great great grandchildren.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, James Howard Smith and Lawrence Saber; four brothers; five sisters; and one great granddaughter.
    Visitation was planned from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31 in Inman Ward Funeral Home of Tabor City.  
    Funeral services were planned for 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1 in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Tabor City.
