Weather threat moves Border Battle 25 up

By DEUCE NIVEN

With up to five inches of rain projected for the Tabor-Loris Community as what is now called Tropical Depression #9 skirts the Grand Strand Friday, the 25th annual Border Battle varsity football game between Loris and South Columbus high schools has been moved to Thursday, school officials said Wednesday.
South Columbus will host this year’s game, with kick-off still set for 7:30 p.m. In a related move, the varsity football game between the schools has been moved to 6:30 p.m. next Tuesday, at Loris High School.
National Weather Service forecasters say TD #9 will move along or near the Georgia-Carolinas coast after crossing northern Florida as a Tropical Storm Friday. It’s closest approach to the Tabor-Loris Community, near Myrtle Beach, is expected late Friday afternoon, with wind and rain expected to begin picking up Friday morning.
Inland winds of up to 40 miles per hour are currently forecast.
