Clarendon cabinet shop burns

By DEUCE NIVEN

Fire gutted Gerald’s Cabinetworks Friday morning, a fast-moving blaze inside the custom kitchen cabinet shop behind Ronald Gerald’s home.
Firefighters from Williams Township, Tabor City and Roseland firefighters attacked the blaze at 418 Sidney Cherry Grove Road, just off of U.S. 701 north of Tabor City, from outside, the interior of the long wood-frame shop filled with fire when they arrived.
An investigator from the Columbus County Fire Marshal’s Office was on the fire scene as firefighters continued their efforts to extinguish the blaze.
Gerald said he had operated the business for 26 years.
