Jerry Wayne Boyd: Green Sea

1941 – 2016
Jerry Wayne Boyd of Green Sea passed away peacefully Sunday, Aug. 28 at his home in Green Sea following an illness. He was 74.
Born Sept. 3, 1941 in Loris, he was the son of the late Benjamin Festus “B. F.” Boyd, Jr. and the late Delta Spivey Boyd. Jerry served his country with courage and honor in the United States Navy and was a proud member of the Loris Masonic Lodge #205 AFM.
After the Navy, Jerry worked in technology creating software for Computer Records, Coca Cola and Pepsi. After this initial experience he opened his own business to provide software service for Coca Cola Bottlers. Upon retirement Jerry worked as a consultant in the technology field throughout South America. Jerry was a longtime member of the Loris First United Methodist Church.
Survived by his wife, Laura S. Boyd; a daughter, Jessica Boyd Hall and husband, Alex Viademonte of Rising Sun, Indiana; son Michael W. Boyd and wife, Cynthia of Hampstead; three grandsons, Stephen M. Hall, Andrew W. Hall, Blake W. Boyd; and one granddaughter, Josie Lynne Boyd.
He is also survived by step-son Cole Graham and wife, Kelly; step-daughter Jennifer Bullard and husband, Bryan all of Green Sea; and step-grandchildren, Manning, Tess, Matt, Ben and Kate.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was predeceased by his first wife, Brenda Faye Evans Boyd; two brothers, Derl Defae Boyd and Billy G. Boyd; and a sister, Carolyn B. Grainger. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31 at Loris First United Methodist Church Committal services, with military honors, followed at Twin City Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Pastor Grady Corder officiated.
