Dovie Graham Hayes: Green Sea

    Dovie Graham Hayes of Green Sea passed away Saturday, Sept. 24 at Loris Rehab and Nursing Center. She was 103.
    Mrs. Hayes was born on Feb. 23, 1913 in Green Sea, daughter of the late D. Joe Graham and the late Martha Bell Graham.
    Mrs. Hayes was a loving homemaker and a longtime member of Green Sea Baptist Church.
     Survivors include her son, K. Sherwood Hayes and his wife, Linda of Conway; two daughters, Martha Jo Garrell and husband, Jimmy of Tabor City, and Pam Sarvis and husband, Larry of Green Sea; eight grandchildren, Scott Hayes, Matt Hayes, Dee Dee Strickland, Buck Sarvis, Brock Sarvis, Ray Lupo, Patricia Hayes and Johnny Hayes and 10 great-grandchildren, Justin Ray Lupo, Cole Strickland, Savannah Dovie Sarvis, Logan Sarvis, Paisley Sarvis, Michael Hayes, Madeline Hayes, Martine Hayes, Riley Hayes and Ridge Hayes.
     In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hayes was predeceased by her husband, Shelton Thomas Hayes; one son, John Thomas Hayes; two brothers, Walter Graham and Dolphus Graham and her two sisters, Gussie Watson and Ruth Harrelson.
     Funeral services were held 3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27 at Green Sea Baptist Church with Reverend Jerry Phillips officiating. Committal services followed at Green Sea Cemetery.
