Verbee Cribb Cartrette: Whiteville
1932 – 2016
Verbee Cribb Cartrette of Whiteville died Friday, Oct. 14. at home surrounded by her loving family. She was 84.
She was born April 23, 1932 in Columbus County, a daughter of the late Dow and Vernie Duncan Cribb.
Survivors include her daughters, Margie Carol McLeod of Green Sea and Mollie Cartrette of Laurel Hill; sons John Cartrette of Gibson, and Joseph Cartrette of Whiteville; sisters Monnie Turbeville of Whiteville, Rosa Walton of Lexington, and Geneva Ward of Whiteville; brothers, Oliver and Billy of Lexington, Bobby, Pete, Mitchell, and Jerry of Whiteville, Elgin of Ash, and Perry of Tabor City; 30 grandchildren; 51 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ransom Seymour Cartrette, her children, Delane, D.J., Richard, Charles Ray, Dow Thomas, and a brother, J. T. Cribb.
Family planned to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 17 at Inman Ward Funeral Home, Tabor City.
A funeral service was planned for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18 in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel, Tabor City, with burial following in McPherson Cemetery.
