Faye Grainger Worley: Nichols

1934 – 2016

    Faye Grainger Worley of Nichols entered into rest Friday, Nov. 4 at her residence with her children by her side.
     She was born Feb. 8, 1934  in Horry County, a daughter of the late Cortie Grainger and the late Reba Floyd Grainger. She was 82.
    Mrs. Worley, a farmer’s wife and homemaker, was predeceased by her husband, Floyd Coleman Worley, Sr., and a sister, Evelyn Grainger Christenbury. She was an active member of Pleasant View Baptist Church where she served as a Deacon’s wife, member of the church choir, Preschool Sunday School teacher for many years and leader of the Acteen Girls Missions, and organizer of many church tours around the country. Mrs. Worley graduated from Floyd’s High School in 1951 and attended Furman University.
     Survivors include four children, Cindy Worley Howell (Tim), Mary Worley Smith (Jonathan), Gina Worley, all of Nichols, and Floyd C. Worley, Jr. (Michael Guerndt) of Myrtle Beach; one sister, Betty Grainger Fowler of Nichols; nine grandchildren, Patrick King, Nicholas King, Nadia Howell, Katya Howell Isaac Howell,  Matthew Willoughby (Kelli), Jessica Willoughby, Vince Powers, and Alexandria Powers and four great-grandchildren; Hailey King, Lane Squires, Matthew Shane Willoughby II, and Jacob Coleman Willoughby.
     Funeral services were held 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6 at Pleasant View Baptist Church with Rev. James C. Shelley and Rev. John Forbes officiating. Entombment followed at the Worley Family Mausoleum in the church cemetery.
