Joseph Phillips: Boone

1940 – 2016

    Joseph Phillips of Boone died Monday, Nov. 7 in the Glenbridge Health and Rehabilitation Center, Boone. He was 75.
    Born Dec. 21, 1940 in Columbus County, he was the son of the late Dock Phillips and Rosa Bell Richardson Phillips.
    Joseph worked with J W Hampton as a flagman and operator and on the Roscoe Coleman Farm.
    He is survived by one son, Rick D. (Judy) Phillips of Loris, one brother, Jerry Wayne Phillips of Tabor City; five sisters, Annie Ruth (Clyde) James, Brenda (Bill) Soles, Linda Phillips, Bonita (Jessie) Locklear, and Patricia Ward, all of Tabor City; two grandchildren, Rick D. (Melissa) Phillips Jr., and C. Joseph (Marie) Phillips, all of Green Sea; and five great grandchildren.
    In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one sister, Betty Avant; and two brothers, William Thomas Phillips, and Jimmy Fipps.
    Visitation was planned from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 9 in Inman Ward Funeral Home of Tabor City.
    A graveside service was planned for 1 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10 in Coleman Cemetery.
