Lawrence Keever Rogers, Jr.: Loris

Lawrence “Larry” Keever Rogers, Jr., of Loris passed away at home with family on Saturday Nov. 5. He was 57.
Born Dec. 8, 1959 in Loris, Larry was the son of Lawrence “Shep” and Ruth Rogers. He was a retired computer administrator with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of SC.
A graduate of Loris High School, Larry continued his education at Clemson University and graduated with a degree in Business.
After college, Larry enrolled in the US Navy, and served active duty as an electronics technician aboard the guided missile cruiser USS Harry E. Yarnell, including several deployments in the Mediterranean.
Larry was an avid sports enthusiast, playing high school baseball and basketball. He extended that sports career playing many years in slow pitch softball leagues in the Myrtle Beach area. He was also a passionate follower of Clemson Tiger Football.
Larry is survived by his mother, Ruth Rogers, his sister, Janice Flake; brother-in-law, Joe Flake, and two nephews, Eric and David Flake. He will be missed by all.
A funeral service honoring Larry’s life was held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday Nov. 8 at the Hardwick Memorial Chapel in Loris. Committal services were private.
