A violent two-vehicle crash with multiple injuries shut down NC 410 at Roseland Road, north of Tabor City, for about an hour Sunday night.
At least four people were taken to area hospitals following the 8 p.m. crash, one flown out by VitaLink helicopter.
An SUV and passenger car were involved, the latter landing wheels up in a field just off the busy highway, one of its occupants reportedly ejected from the car.
Rescue crews from Tabor City, Whiteville and Chadbourn/Klonkyke and Roseland Fire Department worked the crash. A landing zone established right at the crash scene was moved across Roseland Road, apparently farther away from some power lines, before the helicopter touched down.
