Mabelene Hilbourn Porter: Loris

1942 – 2016

    Mabelene Hilbourn Porter of Loris passed away Tuesday, Dec. 6, at McLeod Loris Hospital. She was 74.
    Born June 26, 1942 in Loris, she was the daughter of the late Gero Hilbourn, Sr. and the late Mable Ward Hilbourn.
    Mrs. Porter worked as an Horry County dispatcher with the South Carolina Forestry Commission for 15 years and attended Lawndale Baptist Church in Loris.
     Survivors include her loving husband of 56 years, Marshall D. Porter of the home; two daughters, Annette P. Causey and Cathy Jo Thomas both of Loris; five grandchildren, Marshall Hursey and wife, Kimberly of Myrtle Beach, Michael Wade Hursey and wife, Bonnie of Sumter, Amanda Jo Hardee and Corey of Loris, Brian Bell of California; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mildred Pope of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Lila Maxfield of Chesapeake Bay, Virginia.
     In addition to her parents, Mrs. Porter was predeceased by a son-in-law, Dale Causey; and her five brothers, Gero Hilbourn Jr., Tommy Hilbourn, Gary Hilbourn, Carlisle Hilbourn and Jimmy Hilbourn.
    Family planned to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, at Hardwick Funeral Home, Loris.
     Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, at Lawndale Baptist Church, entombment following at Twin City Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with Rev. Chris Hardee and Pastor Lloyd Phipps officiating the services.
