Rosie Lee Cartrette Powell: Tabor City

1937 – 2016

    Rosie Lee Cartrette Powell of Tabor City passed away Friday, Dec. 23 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice in Whiteville. She was 79.
    Born March 15, 1937 in Loris, she was the daughter of the late Leroy Cartrette and the late Retha Bell Cartrette.
     Mrs. Powell retired from the Horry County Solid Waste Authority and was a longtime active member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She was passionate about her fishing and never met a stranger but will be most remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all.
     Survivors include her daughter, Teresa Powell Stanley and husband, Aubrey of Tabor City; son, Paul Powell and girlfriend, Chrissy Wright of Tabor City; five grandchildren, Corey Powell and wife, Tiffany, Courtney Powell, Andrea Powell, Eric Rouse and wife, Kelli and Stone Stanley and one great-grandson, Luke Powell.
     In addition to her parents, Mrs. Powell was predeceased by her husband, Homer Paul Powell; two brothers, Billy Cartrette and Bobby David Cartrette and her two sisters, Alice Phillips and Judy Causey Watts.
     Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Pastor David Watts officiating, with committal services following at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
