Pensalee Harrelson: Loris

1929 – 2017

    Pensalee Harrelson of Loris died Monday, Jan. 23 in Regency Hospital, Florence. She was 87.
    Born Oct. 12, 1929 in Horry County, she was the daughter of the late John J. and Julia Glendora Stevens Powell. In addition to her parents she was predeceased in death by her husband Vernon V. Harrelson and a sister, Maydee Powell.
    She was employed for 34 years at Tabor Products in a supervisory position. Mrs. Harrelson was very active in her church. She sang in the choir, helped with the Silvertones, the Good News Club, and the Food Ministry. She also served as the clerk of the Dogwood Hill Institute, continuing the legacy begun by her father and sister.
    She is survived by cousins, Anthony Fowler of Loris, Patricia Fowler Jackson of Green Sea, Glenda Hodges Mott of Loris, Barbara Harrelson of Loris, Wendy Parker of Aynor, Diane Bellamy of Loris; and other special nieces, nephews and cousins.
    Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, in Dogwood Hill Baptist Church, Loris. Burial followed in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Tabor City.
