Sunday evening
UPDATE: Laquint Oneil Boyd, 37, died from a gunshot wound to the chest following gunfire at the P&R Club west of Loris, Horry County Deputy Coroner Tony Hendrick said.
Boyd has ties to Loris and Tabor City, his mother living in the latter, and Hendrick said he had not been able to determine a specific address for Boyd Sunday afternoon.
Several others were shot as two men who had argued inside the club exchanged gunfire outside about 2:30 a.m. Sunday, an Horry County Police Department report said. See the initial report below, additional details here as events warrant, and the full story in this week’s Tabor-Loris Tribune in print and online.
Noon Sunday
One person is dead, several others hurt in an early Sunday shooting at a Loris area nightclub, the Horry County Police Department reports.
Officers responding to the 2:30 a.m. call at P&R Club at 258 North Green Sea Road, Loris, met vehicles speeding towards McLeod Loris hospital, and found witnesses and security officers still at the nightclub, a report by Officer Arlisha Stackhouse said.
A P&R security officer told police said an argument between two men inside the club spilled outside, where gunfire erupted. The security officer told police he began shooting at those engaged in the gunfire, before they fled in a red Dodge Charger and a silver Nissan Altima, the report said.
The man inside the charger began shooting from the car, and the security guard returned fire, the report said.
Several people were taken to the hospital, and HCPD spokeswoman Krystal Dotson said just before noon Sunday that one of those people had died. A specific number of injured has not been released, nor has the name of the deceased.
Dotson said the investigation is “ongoing.”
