Guilty pleas, consent decree in animal cases

By DEUCE NIVEN

Guilty pleas were entered in a criminal animal abandonment case involving two Tabor City women Tuesday, while a civil complaint related to an animal cruelty case was also resolved, Columbus County Animal Control Director Joey Prince said.
Casey Duncan Gore, 36 and her spouse Morgan Blaire Gore, 24, accepted deferred prosecution plea deals that avoided any jail time, Prince said, and were sentenced by District Court Judge Scott Ussery to six months on probation, fines of about $280, and ordered to serve eight hours of community service.
Civil responsibility for Andrew and Ashley Wilson of Herbert Norris Road east of Tabor City was settled with a consent decree approved by Judge Ussery Tuesday, Prince said, with criminal charges left open, trial expected in about two weeks.
