NC motorcyclist dies in Horry crash
A motorcycle rider died after slamming into a SUV that pulled from a driveway on SC 9 in Longs Tuesday afternoon, Corp. Sonny Collins of the South Carolina Highway Patrol said.
Mario Douglas, 31, of Fayetteville was identified as the driver of the Kawasaki motorcycle by Horry County Deputy Coroner Michelle McSpadden.
Douglas was travelling north on the divided four-lane highway when the Buick SUV driven by Joellyn Gurganus, 49, pulled from the driveway, Collins said. The motorcycle struck the side of the SUV. Douglas, who was not wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead on the scene.
Gurganus was charged with failing to yield the right-of-way, Collins said. – Deuce Niven
