Robert Franklin Cox, Sr.: Loris
1933 – 2017
Robert Franklin “Bobby” Cox, Sr. of Loris passed away on Thursday, June 8, at his home following an illness. He was 84.
Mr. Cox was born on March 3, 1933 in Loris, son of Samuel Jasper Cox and Dessie Jane Cox.
Mr. Cox served his country with courage and honor in the United States Army, after which he worked as a farmer until his retirement. He was a longtime member of the Loris First United Methodist Church; he was a Mason and Shriner with memberships at Loris Lodge #205 AFM and the Omar Shrine Temple.
Survivors include his wife, June Cox of the home; two sons, Robert F. Cox, Jr. and wife, Theresa “Terry” of Shallotte, and Steve Cox and wife, Edi of Loris; four grandchildren, Stephanie Cox, Meredith Cox, Austin and wife, Hannah Cox and Ethan Cox; four brothers, J.E. Cox and wife, Miriam of Florence,, Jerry Cox and wife, Ann of Loris, Jimmy Cox and wife, Hart (deceased) of Cayce, and Charles Cox and wife, Barbara of Hemingway; four sisters, Joanne Cox-Brooks and husband, Wayne (deceased) of Kings Mountain, Bonnie Rabon and husband, Kenneth (deceased) of Cayce, Mary Lou Wright and husband, Kent (deceased) of Little River, and Janice C. Rodeffer and husband, Larry of Summerville; and sister-in-law Sharon Cox of Loris.
Mr. Cox was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Eugene Daniel “Gene” Cox and William Clay “Willie” Cox.
Funeral services were planned for 4 p.m. Saturday, June 10, at Hardwick Memorial Chapel, Loris, with Reverend Larry Rodeffer officiating, committal services following at Twin City Memorial Gardens.
Family planned to receive friends from 2 p.m. until the time of service on Saturday at Hardwick Funeral Home.
