Geneva Long: Tabor City

1927 – 2017

     Geneva Long of Tabor City died Sunday, Aug. 6, in Columbus Regional Healthcare, Whiteville. She was 89.

     Born Oct. 17, 1927 in Columbus County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Prosper Stanley and Eva Lula Stanley and the widow of Sam Hardie and Willie Long.

     She is survived by three sons, Johnny Hardie of Leland, Roger Kenneth Hardie of Rieglewood, Mitchell Wayne Hardie of Calabash; one brother, Thomas Stanley of Clarendon; one sister, Cleo Flowers of Wilmington; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.

     In addition to her parents and husbands, she was predeceased by three sons, Lawrence Ronald “Billy” Hardie, William Hardie, Sammy Hardie; daughter, Shelvia Jean Bishop; one brother, Fred Stanley; and one sister, Mary Rote.

     Funeral services were planned for 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, in Sweet Home Baptist Church, Clarendon, with burial following in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Tabor City.

     Visitation was planed for the hour preceding the service in the church.
