Alice Faye Frink Benton: Cerro Gordo
Alice Faye Frink Benton of Cerro Gordo went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Nov. 14, at Liberty Commons and Rehabilitation in Whiteville. She was 85.
She was the widow of Valery James “V.J.” Benton, Jr. and the daughter of the late Walter Sims and Alice Stephens Frink.
She was was preceded in death by a daughter, Monica Faye Benton; and by three siblings, Edwin S. Frink, Charles Frink and John Frink.
Mrs. Benton was member of Cerro Gordo Baptist Church; a member of Cerro Gordo Fire and Rescue (EMT); formerly employed by BVD Apparel for many years and later was co-owner and operator of Benton Service Center in Cerro Gordo for 20 years along with her husband “VJ” Benton.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Yolanda Benton Spicer of Wilmington; her son, Ricky James Benton and his wife, Dianne of Cerro Gordo; her brother, David Frink and wife, Sara of Chadbourn; grandchildren, Rick Benton (Angie), Ryan Benton (Carter), Jennifer Dial (Gabriel), Jeremy Benton (Lucy) and Jon Spicer (Tasha); great-grandchildren, Trey Benton, Cody Benton, Cole Benton, Chase Benton, Reilly Benton, Carrington Benton, Betsy Benton, Harrison Benton and Hadley Dial.
Final rites were planned for 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17, at Worthington Funeral Home with Reverend Tim Moore and Reverend George Strickland officiating. Interment will follow in Columbus Memorial Park in Whiteville.
Family planned to receive friends from Noon to 1:45 p.m., prior to the service, at Worthington Funeral Home.
