Frances Melba Cox Benton: Loris

1936 – 2017

     Frances Melba Cox Benton of Loris passed away on Sunday, Nov. 12, at her home in Loris. She was 81.

     Mrs. Benton was born on May 28, 1936 in Loris, a daughter of the late Everette Guy Cox and the late Maggie Geneva Bellamy Cox.  She was a loving homemaker and a longtime member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Loris, but will be most remembered as a loving mother and sister.

     Survivors include her son son, Craig Benton and wife, Mary of Wilson; brother, Everette Earl Cox and wife, Judy of Loris; two sisters, Claris Cox of Loris, and Betty Arrant of Columbia, Mississippi, and her beloved German Shepherd, “Rose”.

     In addition to her parents, Mrs. Benton was predeceased by her husband, Alphaeus Warren Benton and two brothers, Jerry Lee Cox and Herbert B. Cox.

     Graveside services were held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 14, at Antioch Cemetery in Loris, with Brian Dinsmore officiating.
